Torino host Lazio on Sunday, and a best combined XI skews heavily towards the Biancocelesti, with only two Granata making the cut. According to The Laziali, the selection underlines the perceived gap in squad quality.
Both fanbases have turned on owners Urbano Cairo and Claudio Lotito after unmet promises, reflected in league positions of 15th and 10th. The reverse fixture in Rome finished 3-3 after a tight contest.
Between the posts, Ivan Provedel is a straightforward pick ahead of Franco Israel and Alberto Paleari. Adam Marusic gets the nod at right-back over Marcus Andersen, with Mario Gila partnering Alessio Romagnoli in central defence, preferred to the likes of Saul Coco, Guillermo Maripan and Adrian Ismajli. At left-back, Nuno Tavares edges Luca Pellegrini and Valentino Lazaro.
Nicolo Rovella anchors midfield despite a season disrupted by two long layoffs, his quality evident from last term. Kenneth Taylor is the box-to-box choice in a close call with Toma Basic, while Cesare Casadei, Ivan Ilic, Emirhan Ilkhan and Gvidas Gineitis have lacked consistency.
On the right, Gustav Isaksen has worked back from mononucleosis and reclaimed his place from Matteo Cancellieri. The No 10 berth goes to Nikola Vlasic, whose six goals and three assists have been pivotal, arguably sparing Torino from deeper relegation worries.
Mattia Zaccagni is the clear pick on the left, with no Granata wide man offering comparable threat. Up front, Giovanni Simeone makes the XI despite a recent dip, his five goals outstripping any Lazio player this season.
