A night to forget in London, as Barcelona get thrashed by Chelsea away from home. The team led by Enzo Maresca completely deserved this victory, but Barça should have done much better than they did as well.

Ultimately, a 3-0 thrashing from Chelsea is what the Catalan giants have to show for themselves. From Ronald Araujo’s red card to Ferran Torres being abysmal in front of goal, there were many things that could have gone differently.

Here are the player ratings for Hansi Flick’s team.

Player Ratings:

Joan Garcia: 6.0

Was solid enough in terms of his distribution but unfortunately could not do much about the goals he ended up conceding in this game.

Jules Kounde: 4.0

Abhorrent, and he was thoroughly exposed in this game. His defensive awareness was lacklustre, and he scored an absurd own goal as well.

Ronald Araujo: 2.0

There are no excuses anymore. Ronald Araujo is simply not built for this competition, and Barça now need to move on one way or another.

Pau Cubarsi: 5.5

Struggled to keep up with Chelsea’s attacks and should have done much better for Estevao’s goal. Underwhelming performance.

Alejandro Balde: 7.0

Arguably one of the better performers for Barcelona in this game. Did well defensively and offensively for much of the game, but the supporting cast around him was nowhere to be seen.

Frenkie de Jong: 5.5

Smooth passing but no real intent behind it. Always seemed to be out of position when it mattered, and his lack of intensity was frustrating to see.

Eric Garcia: 5.0

Similar to Frenkie de Jong, but his technical ability was nowhere near good enough to manage anything here.

Lamine Yamal: 6.5

Completely nullified by Marc Cucurella, but still managed to create some good chances. One for Ferran Torres, in particular, should have been the first goal of the game.

Fermin Lopez: 5.0

Ineffective, and completely smothered by the Chelsea defense. Unfortunately, he was not able to do much today.

Ferran Torres: 3.0

One of the worst misses of his career, and it came on such a crucial night. Even apart from that, he was beyond frustrating to watch.

Robert Lewandowski: 4.0

For much of his time on the field, Robert Lewandowski did not see many chances come his way. Chelsea’s game plan fully nullified him, and it was a tough watch to see him struggle.

Marcus Rashford: 5.5

Added a bit of energy, but could not do much else unfortunately.

Andreas Christensen: 6.0

Brought in to add some more defensive solidity, and he managed to do that to an extent.

Raphinha: 6.0

Added a great spark to the game for Barcelona, and his intensity really helped to put a bit more pressure on Chelsea. Unfortunately, it did not amount to much else.

Gerard Martin: N/A

Not enough time or influence on the game to warrant a rating.
