The Millwall defender has welcomed their new recruit to the Den

Millwall continued to get busy in the early stages of the summer transfer window on Tuesday, announcing the arrival of 22-year-old frontman Tairyk Arconte.

Acronte follows Jenson Metcalfe through the door at the Den this offseason, and serves as yet another exciting prospect who could really hit the ground running in the Championship next season.

The Guadeloupean international has played his entire professional career in France, and is coming off the back of a career year in front of goal, where he netted 13 times in 30 second-tier outings for Rodez, helping them to a play-off place.

The 22-year-old will add some much-needed firepower up top for Alex Neil's side, who were the lowest-scoring play-off side last season, and lacked that spark in their play-off semi-final defeat against Hull City, failing to score over both legs.

Understandably, the prospect of Arconte continuing his goalscoring form in his first year in the EFL is exciting many Millwall fans, and his new teammates are sharing that excitement, too.

Last season was a breakout year for numerous Millwall players, as Alex Neil's side defied all odds and finished within one point of the automatic promotion places. Arguably, the standout player of the lot was Tristan Crama.

The 24-year-old's first full season at the club after arriving in January 2025 from Brentford saw him remain a right-back for large parts, as Japhet Tanganga was replaced by Caleb Taylor in the summer.

Nevertheless, he was impactful regardless of where he played across the backline, starting every game and contributing massively to one of the best defences in the division.

Despite having EFL experience before his move to Millwall, having loan moves at Bristol Rovers and then Exeter City while at Brentford, Crama came through the youth system at Béziers in his native France before his switch to West London.

With similar upbringings through football, the 24-year-old was quick to welcome Arconte to the Den when the frontman announced his arrival on Instagram.

"Welcome 🦁," he wrote in the comments. A simple, one-word message, but one that already infers a connection between the two.

Unfortunately for Millwall, the likelihood of them going into the new season with star man Femi Azeez in their squad is incredibly slim, with the Nigerian international's 19-goal involvements last year garnering some Premier League interest.

But the Lions are being proactive in the window and aren't waiting until a decent fee comes in for Azeez, instead bolstering the squad already ahead of pre-season starting.

The likes of Metcalfe and Arconte follow a similar transfer philosophy to what Millwall are starting to become associated with, too, as they're both young prospects who could really kick on and thrive at the Den, leading to profit being made in the future.

Zian Flemming and Japhet Tanganga both left for more than the Lions bought them in for, and the likes of Azeez, Mihailo Ivanovic, Camiel Neghli and Crama himself all have the potential to follow in their footsteps, too.

Ideally, though, these young, talented players with high ceilings could lead Millwall to better their third-placed finish last season and break into the top flight for the first time since the 1989/90 campaign.

The future is extremely bright at the Den, but that doesn't mean that the present can't provide excitement for Millwall fans, too.
