The Union of Arab Football Associations has backed FIFA president Gianni Infantino following its executive committee meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.
L'Équipe reports that the body, which represents 22 national federations, praised FIFA’s recent efforts to deepen cooperation with national, regional and continental organisations, and reiterated its support, saying Infantino has helped strengthen unity in the global football community.
The endorsement comes as Infantino prepares to seek another term, with FIFA elections scheduled for March 2027.
In August last year, six leaders of Arab federations, including those of Qatar and Morocco, had already voiced their backing.
At the time he faced criticism over his stance around the 2026 World Cup, and over a summer proposal, since abandoned, to sell stakes in FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, to private investors close to Donald Trump.
