UEFA financial constraints have led BlueCo, Strasbourg’s American owner, to alter their transfer strategy. The group has already been fined €13m and faces the threat of another €12m, yet the Alsatian club still aims to return to Europe.
L'Équipe reports that the consortium bought Chelsea in May 2022 and Strasbourg in June 2023, and that both clubs now find themselves without European football, just as they were three years ago.
Strasbourg enjoyed a historic season, reaching the Europa Conference League semi-finals for the first time in their history, before elimination by Rayo Vallecano, 0-1 and 0-1.
Despite that progress, deep questions persist over the owner’s strategy and the broader project for the club.
The shift marks a turning point in Strasbourg’s market approach under BlueCo.
