Galatasaray will visit Liverpool at Anfield for the Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday 18 March, but will do so without travelling supporters after UEFA upheld an away-fan ban.

Reuters reports that UEFA’s appeals body rejected the Istanbul club’s challenge on Wednesday, confirming disciplinary sanctions imposed by the governing body.

The decision follows incidents during last week’s trip to Turin, where objects were thrown, fireworks were set off and disorder was reported in a match that ended 3-2 after extra time.

A man and his daughter were injured by a firework launched towards Italian supporters.

The champions of Türkiye were also fined 40,000 euros for their supporters’ behaviour.
