In a recent post on X, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano offered an update on Manchester City and their pursuit of Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo. It is believed that the Mancunian club are confident about recruiting the Dutch talent once the Reds find a replacement for him in this transfer window.

Gakpo’s Decent Form At Liverpool

Gakpo enjoyed a good run of form at the Merseyside club but struggled to be consistent for them in the Premier League. Still, the 27-year-old deserves credit for scoring nine times and picking up six assists in 52 matches for Liverpool last season across all fronts.

The Dutch sensation is currently among the most talented wide players in Premier League football. Therefore, it is no surprise that Man City are eager to land him in this transfer window.

His current contract at Anfield will run out in the summer of 2030, so the Mancunian club would do well to get a deal done for him before the end of this month.

What Will Gakpo Bring To Manchester City?

Gakpo can shoot the ball with power from long range and has the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can contribute by scoring and creating a handful of crucial goals for his team.

The Dutch talent is primarily a left-winger but can also serve as a striker or as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. He has already proven himself in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Mancunian club.

We can expect Gakpo to bring more quality and depth to Man City boss Enzo Maresca’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Etihad Stadium over the next few years.

At 27, Gakpo is about to enter his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Mancunian club to pursue in this transfer window. He will also help Man City compete for some major honours in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes sense for Maresca to go all out to get a deal done for him before the end of this transfer window.
