Vasco have agreed a deal to sign forward Facundo Colidio from River Plate. According to UOL, the 26-year-old landed in Rio de Janeiro on Friday morning for medical tests before signing a permanent contract to the end of 2029.
The club will pay about 4.5 million dollars (R$ 22.9 million) for 50% of his economic rights. The remaining 50% can be bought later for 5 million dollars (R$ 25.5 million) if contract targets are met.
Vasco had tracked Colidio for months and stepped up talks after football director Admar Lopes travelled to Argentina last week. He went to Buenos Aires to close a deal with Racing for midfielder Santiago Sosa, and pursued other opportunities during the trip.
Colidio is a centre forward who can also operate on the left or as a second striker. This season he has five goals and three assists for the Argentine side.
The Italo-Argentine came through Inter Milan’s academy, then played professionally for Sint-Truiden in Belgium and Tigre in Argentina before joining River.
