Vasco are close to completing the signing of striker Bruno Duarte from Estrela Vermelha after agreeing a deal worth around two million euros, roughly R$ 12 million, ESPN reports.
The 30-year-old is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days to undergo medicals and finalise a permanent contract. He had previously indicated a desire to join the Rio club.
Abroad since 2019, Bruno Duarte is noted for his goalscoring. He has 42 goals and 14 assists in 98 official matches for Estrela Vermelha, winning the Serbian Championship in 2024/25 and 2025/26, plus the Serbian Cup in both seasons.
His career has also taken in the Portuguese, Ukrainian and Saudi leagues. In Brazil, his last club was Portuguesa in 2018, having come through Palmeiras’ academy until 2015.
Vasco’s pursuit of a Brazilian player was also influenced by the squad already being at its foreign-player limit, with the club still seeking reinforcements in other positions. Bruno Duarte operates beyond the penalty area too, linking play and delivering strong numbers for assists and pre-assists.
