The powers that be at Villarreal have taken the first steps towards a potential January deal for Monza star Luca Caldirola.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has this evening provided an update on the efforts of the Yellow Submarine to add to Marcelino’s squad.
Amid what has proven a hugely underwhelming campaign to date, the Villarreal brass are understood to have identified the club’s backline as being in dire need of reinforcement.
A number of defenders, in turn, have been earmarked as potential additions with a view to the 2nd half of the season.
And one such option to have come to the fore over the course of the last 24 hours comes in the form of the aforementioned Luca Caldirola.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Villarreal have moved forward with an initial inquiry as to central defender Caldirola’s availability.
Those at the Estadio de la Cerámica have since been informed that Monza have little intention of allowing such a key figure to move on during the January window.
But Villarreal, it would appear, are ready to push nonetheless, with a renewed summer swoop also on the agenda, in the case of Monza standing firm this month.
