As expected, former Juventus and Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is set to sign for Besiktas as a free agent, reuniting with coach Vincenzo Italiano, according to Football Italia.

The centre-forward has been out of contract since his Juventus deal expired on June 30.

He had targeted a Serie A switch to Napoli or Milan and monitored potential interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, plus Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.

With none prepared to meet his wage demands, he accepted Besiktas’ offer.

The contract is believed to be for three years, worth €8m per season, with bonuses potentially lifting it to €10m.

Vlahovic flew to Istanbul this evening and struck the traditional eagle pose in a Besiktas shirt, with hundreds of fans gathered outside the airport.

Italiano’s presence was decisive, as Vlahovic enjoyed the most productive spell of his career under him at Fiorentina.

He scored 20 goals in 24 games with four assists across six months in 2021.

That form, alongside a contract dispute, led to his sale to Juventus in January 2022 for €85.4m plus add-ons.
