Darren Byfield confirmed Rico Browne, Priestley Farquharson and Brandon Comley were carrying injuries before Walsall's final-day defeat at Bromley on Saturday.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Farquharson and Browne missed out with knee and foot problems respectively, although Browne still travelled to Hayes Lane.
Comley had been managing a knee issue over the last fortnight, was named on the bench and remained unused.
Byfield said several changes were enforced by those setbacks, but added it was not an excuse. He insisted the squad had to keep going and was good enough to collect results.
Browne, Comley and Farquharson are among 13 players out of contract this summer, with an option year held on Farquharson. Under EFL rules, clubs must notify players by the third Saturday in May, meaning this year's deadline is 16 May.
Comley is the longest-serving player in the current squad, with 151 appearances across four seasons.
Farquharson's Walsall spell has been interrupted by injuries since 2023, though he scored five in 35 across all competitions in 2024-25.
Browne arrived in September 2024 and had to wait for his chance. He made his EFL debut in an opening-day win over Swindon Town in August last year, scored once in 21 league games, and was later moved to right-back by Byfield, starring in seven of the final 10 matches. The 22-year-old impressed in that role late in the campaign.
