The summer transfer window saw FC Barcelona bid goodbye to their two main centre-forwards: Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, without signing a top-quality replacement.

Julian Alvarez had been the Catalans’ priority target to reinforce the No. 9 position, but Atletico Madrid refused to sell the Argentine.

Barcelona did bring in Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal in a bargain deal late in the summer, and are expected to return for the Atletico Madrid ace again in January.

Yassir Zabiri dreams of Barcelona

While it has become well-known at this point that Alvarez dreams of playing for Barcelona, another La Liga forward seems to share the same career goal.

Indeed, a video has surfaced in which Yassir Zabiri of Racing Santander confesses his admiration for the Blaugrana and admits that he dreams of playing for the La Liga champions.

“My objective is to play for Barça. I’ve been a fan of Barça since I was a child. When I was little, I really loved Barça,” the Moroccan striker revealed.

“My whole family supports FC Barcelona. Messi is a legend. I mainly watched Suarez, and also Griezmann, whose profile as a left-footer is very similar to mine.”

A dream start

Zabiri has burst onto the La Liga scene in spectacular fashion having joined Racing Santander on loan from Rennes in the summer after representing Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 21-year-old has scored five goals in five league matches, putting him second in the La Liga scoring charts behind Barça captain Raphinha and level with Sergio Camello and Roberto Fernandez.

He has found the net once every 56 minutes so far this season, rapidly becoming the newly-promoted La Liga club’s main attacking reference point.

Barcelona’s popularity in Morocco is well established, and Zabiri, as per his admission, grew up following the club closely.

His current form has now brought him into the spotlight, although there is no indication yet that his career will take him to the Spotify Camp Nou.

The 21-year-old Moroccan international’s loan at Racing will end once the season is over, at which point he is expected to return to Rennes, where he is under contract until 2029.
