West Ham United have reignited their interest in signing Charlie Cresswell, according to talkSPORT.

Cresswell has developed significantly since leaving Leeds United for Toulouse.

The Hammers could use another right-sided centre-back, as Jean-Clair Todibo has failed to provide defensive assurance in that position.

Todibo has struggled with his positioning, and Cresswell would provide a different option for manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Cresswell has won 64 percent of his aerial and 42% of his ground duels in Ligue 1 while helping to keep four clean sheets in 12 appearances.

The 23-year-old is also a danger in the opposition box, having netted three times already this season.

Gary Rowett, who worked with the 6ft 2in tall defender at Millwall, described him as aggressive and praised his contributions at both ends of the pitch.

A move back to England has always been on the cards for him, and joining West Ham would be a sensible decision.

Cresswell is a defender on a clear upward trajectory, and there is every indication he has the potential to develop into a full England international in the coming years.

His reading of the game is mature, his timing in duels is improving, and his blend of height, physicality and aggression allows him to dominate both penalty areas.

For a club crying out for reliability, presence and long-term value at centre-back, West Ham should be all over this deal.
