Guadalajara aims to maintain its perfect start to the Clausura 2026, but this weekend it faces a very demanding test against its closest challenger in the overall standings, as it visits Cruz Azul on Saturday night at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla for Matchday 7 of Liga MX.
For the clash against La Máquina, El Rebaño Sagrado has an ace up its sleeve: the strong away form it has maintained since last tournament’s regular season. In their last nine road matches, Gabriel Milito’s side has been nearly flawless, recording 7 wins, 1 draw, and just 1 loss. That reflects the squad’s competitive spirit and how uncomfortable a Rojiblanco visit can be for opponents.
Another factor that always works in favor of Mexico’s most popular and beloved team is its fan base. No matter the stadium, Chivahermanos make themselves heard, and the chant of “Chivas, Chivas!” echoes loudly.
The current positive streak away from home began six months ago with a thriller on the northern border. On August 22, Guadalajara came back from a three-goal deficit to draw 3-3 against Xolos. Their next road outing was just as impressive, as they entered Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes and defeated América 1-2 in the match that consolidated Milito’s vision within the team.
They later visited Estadio Cuauhtémoc, where despite relentless rain and poor field conditions, they secured a 0-2 victory over Puebla that firmly placed them in the Play-In race at the time. After that, they went to CU and beat Pumas 1-2, continuing their strong AP25 campaign, despite a narrow loss at Estadio Corregidora against Querétaro shortly after.
Another narrow victory over Pachuca paved the way to direct Liguilla qualification and confirmed what had already become evident: Chivas was playing better and better. The current CL26 has been no different, as the streak remains perfect with 3 wins in 3 away matches against FC Juárez, Atlético San Luis, and Mazatlán.
The numbers in this run are clear: 22 points out of 27 available, 16 goals scored in 9 matches, scoring in 8 of those games, with consistent and increasingly dominant football.
Although this weekend features the two best teams of CL26 so far, the numbers favor El Rebaño, which aims to check off another away victory at Estadio Cuauhtémoc this Saturday.
