Germany have hit the reset button following their round of 32 elimination at the World Cup. New coach Jürgen Klopp has called up nine Bayern players in Jonas Urbig, Jonathan Tah, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Tom Bischof, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, Lennart Karl and Aleksandar Pavlović for his squad of 44 to feature across the first four games of the UEFA Nations League. The idea is for half of the squad to play the first two games before the other half play the latter two. Bischof will at first feature for the U21s before joining the senior team for the October matches.
France only managed to finish fourth at the World Cup as the curtain came down on Didier Deschamps’ long tenure. Zinédine Zidane is now the man in charge, starting with four Nations League fixtures against Türkiye, Belgium and Italy. He has included Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise in his squad.
England enjoyed their best World Cup since 1966 as they finished third in North America this summer. Now Harry Kane and the Three Lions begin their Nations League campaign, opening against world champions Spain, as well as facing Czechia and Croatia.
Austria narrowly missed out on promotion to League A after play-off defeat to Serbia in the last Nations League. Now Konrad Laimer and his men have another crack at League B, starting against Israel, Kosovo and Ireland.
Josip Stanišić will also have a new coach with Croatia as Slaven Bilić leads the country into the Nations League and games against Czechia, Spain and England.
Summer signing Ismael Saibari will join up with Morocco as they begin qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with group games against Gabon and Lesotho.
Minjae Kim has been named in South Korea’s squad for their four friendly games at home under interim coach Robert Moreno.
Japan also have four matches on home soil and have called up defender Hiroki Ito. The Samurai Blue start with friendlies against Uruguay and Venezuela before October’s Kirin Cup against Ecuador and either New Zealand or Panama.
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye has been called up for Senegal as they begin AFCON qualifying under Patrick Vieira with group games against Mozambique and Ethiopia.
