Uruguayan young winger Rodrigo Dudok has joined Estrela Amadora on loan from Racing Club de Montevideo, with an option to make the move permanent.

Before moving to his new destination, the 19-year-old was invited to Säbener Straße to train with Bayern Munich’s players.

Bayern, like every other top club, arrange trials for young talents from across the world, and Dudok got a chance to show his skills in training.

Why Bayern Munich did not sign Rodrigo Dudok

Racing de Montevideo operate under Bayern’s official joint venture, Red&Gold Football.

The youngster’s performance in Munich also caught the eye of Estrela da Amadora’s newly established German-led ownership consortium, which is co-owned by Bayern icon Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels.

Christian Falk has told CFBayern Insider that Bayern felt the player was not at the level they are looking for, which is why they decided against signing him.

The Bild journalist said: “It is TRUE: Bayern Munich invited Rodrigo Dudok (19) for a trial  at Säbener Straße and took a closer look at him. He’s a good player but not, at the moment, at the level Bayern Munich would like.

“So, the Bavarian giants decided against an offer at this time. They’ve wished the Uruguayan well in his development. Perhaps in a few years things can be different and he can come back for another tryout, but he’s not yet in the range of, say, a Lennart Karl or a Tim Binder (who signed a professional contract with FC Bayern on Thursday). They already have quality there, so they don’t need Dudok.

Bayern Munich have loads of attacking options

At the moment, Bayern have loads of options in attack, and exciting talents like Lennart Karl have been impressive for the senior team.

The academy standards are really high, and while Dudok appeared to have impressed the Portuguese club, Bayern probably expected more from him.
