The French coach has risen to the top of Celtic’s shortlist to take over from Brendan Rodgers. Nancy is currently in charge of Columbus Crew in the MLS, where he has guided his side to both the MLS Cup and the Leagues Cup titles.
Speaking to Golazo America on international duty, Trusty said: “A couple of the Crew guys have mentioned it in the USA camp [Nancy being linked to the Celtic job].”
“We haven’t talked too much in depth but I know he’s a good coach and has had a lot of success. They were asking if I’d seen it and I was asking what their thoughts are. That sort of stuff has nothing to do with me, with regards to who the gaffer is going to be. If Martin stays, that would be awesome, but I have no control over whoever comes in.”

It is believed that Paul Tisdale, the club’s head of football operations, put Nancy’s name forward, while Martin O’Neill is currently serving as Celtic’s interim manager.
O’Neill spoke to BBC Belfast on Thursday before he met with Dermot Desmond yesterday to discuss the situation regarding Celtic’s managerial vacancy.

Martin O’Neill said: “I am not party to anything that is happening with the board talking to prospective clients and things like this, nor do I want to be because that has never been a remit of mine.”
“My job was to come in and hold the fort and the minute that someone is appointed I will step aside.”
“And if that was tomorrow I would gladly step aside. It’s not a problem. It’s nothing to do with ego or anything like that. It’s just to help out in the very very short term.”
