Supervisory board chair Dr Sebastian Rudolph thanked Christiansen for his commitment and highlighted his work in reshaping the women's programme. He added that results with the men's team had not met expectations and wished Christiansen well.

Christiansen said he had worked for Wolfsburg with full dedication, thanked staff, players and supporters, and everyone who brings the club to life. He wished success to the men in their fight to stay in the league, to the women in the title race, and to all academy teams, as well as the best for the club's future.

Christiansen had been in post since summer 2024.
