Sky Germany reports that Wolfsburg are set to complete the signing of PAOK’s Greek defender Konstantinos Koulierakis, beating Eintracht Frankfurt to his signature.

The deal is said to be worth a total of €15m including bonuses and the 20-year-old will sign a long-term contract in the Autostadt. The arrival of Koulierakis also means that Mortiz Jenz is now deemed as an unnecessary reports kicker, the 25-year-old is likely to play a sporadic role under Ralph Hasenhuttl after only a year at the club.

Hoffenheim have recently shown interest in Jenz as they look to boost their central defensive options heading into the new season. However, Augsburg’s Felix Uduokahi is their main candidate.

Frankfurt had been linked to Koulierakis but they instead turned their attentions elsewhere with Belgian defender Arthur Theate joining from Rennes for a fee of around €19m.

The merry-go-round of centre-back signings may also benefit Mainz’s chances of bringing Sepp van den Berg back to the club on loan as each of these clubs previously mentioned have been linked to the 22-year-old at some point this summer and unless they are willing to spend the €20-25m for another centre-back, there are not that maybe suitors left.
