Wolves welcome Nottingham Forest to Molineux on Wednesday, desperate to end a dismal run of form.
Wolves sit rock bottom of the Premier League table. Currently, they are nine points adrift of safety. Consequently, new manager Rob Edwards is under immense pressure. He must deliver a first league win of the season in his second home game in charge.
The hosts have struggled badly at Molineux this season. In fact, they picked up just one point from six home games. This represents one of the worst home starts in Premier League history. However, Edwards has a good personal record against Sean Dyche. He took four points off Dyche’s Everton side while managing Luton. Therefore, he will hope to use that experience to inspire a vital victory tonight.
Wolves manager Rob Edwards is expected to keep faith with the core of the side that produced an improved performance against Aston Villa, despite the narrow 1-0 defeat. Summer signing Jhon Arias impressed on his first Premier League start under the new manager. Consequently, he is set to retain his place on the wing, supporting top scorer Jorgen Strand Larsen.
In defence, Yerson Mosquera will likely continue at centre-back. He delivered a strong showing at Villa Park, where he even came close to scoring with a header that hit the woodwork.
The injury situation at Molineux remains largely unchanged. Specifically, Matt Doherty (knee) has returned to training but Edwards admitted the game “probably comes too soon” for him to start. Additionally, Rodrigo Gomes (groin) and Dan Bentley (ankle) remain sidelined. Ladislav Krejčí was back on the grass on Tuesday but did not train with the group, so he won’t be fit either. Therefore, Sam Johnstone will continue in goal. He will be looking to improve on a save percentage of around 65% as Wolves search for their first clean sheet since September.
Wolves predicted XI: Johnstone; Tchatchoua, Mosquera, Agbadou, T Gomes; Andre, G Gomes; Arias, Bellegarde, Moller Wolfe; Strand Larsen
