Josh Windass has revealed why Carrow Road is his favourite place to visit in the EFL

Wrexham star Josh Windass has named Norwich City’s Carrow Road as his favourite away ground in the EFL.

The 32-year-old is gearing up for his second campaign with the Red Dragons after joining the club last summer as a free agent.

He contributed 16 goals and five assists from 41 appearances in the Championship, with Phil Parkinson’s side narrowly missing out on a play-off place.

Wrexham finished seventh in the table, and will be aiming for another top eight finish in 2026/27 due to the expansion of the play-offs to include two more teams.

Windass will again be a key figure for the Welsh outfit, as he continues to put together a strong career of performances in the EFL.

The attacker has also played at this level for both Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic, as well as with Accrington Stanley in League Two, previously in his career, giving him plenty of EFL experience.

Windass has claimed that Carrow Road is his favourite away ground, as it’s somewhere that he always scores.

“Norwich, because I always score there,” said Windass, via the EFL on Instagram.

The 32-year-old has played away to Norwich on four occasions in his career, and has registered four goals and one assist.

Windass’ first appearance away to the Norfolk outfit came in 2018 when he started in a 1-0 loss for Wigan, and this was the last time he failed to score at the ground in his career.

The next time he faced the Canaries away from home was in a 2-1 loss with Sheffield Wednesday where he scored what was ultimately just a consolation goal.

But things went well in his next two meetings against the club, as he scored and assisted one each in a 3-2 win for the Owls in 2025.

And his first clash away to Norwich with Wrexham also saw him play a key role in a 3-2 victory, as his brace sealed all three points for Parkinson’s side in the early stages of last season.

Wrexham’s Championship preparations

Windass will have to wait until December for another trip to Norwich, as the two sides are scheduled to face each other at Carrow Road in the first week of the final month of the year.

But the club’s preparations for the new campaign are well underway, with three signings through the door ahead of the opening weekend.

Parkinson’s side have added Anthony Patterson, Danny Imray and Ben Whiteman ahead of their trip to face Cardiff City on 17 August.

Norwich City clash could be big for Wrexham this season

Wrexham and Norwich finished seventh and ninth, respectively, last season, so the two clubs will again want to be in the mix for a play-off place.

Parkinson will certainly be hoping that Windass’ goal scoring streak against the Canaries will continue for their December clash.

There’s no doubt that Norwich fans will remember these comments by then, and he will have to back up this claim by getting back on the scoresheet.

If he does find the back of the net again, then fans of the Norfolk outfit will truly be sick of the sight of him forever.
