Yuri Alberto could be involved against Santos on Sunday as Corinthians await a key scan on his right thigh.
According to Globo.com, the striker is in the final phase of recovery and may rejoin the group at CT Joaquim Grava on Wednesday.
He completed on-field tests on Sunday and Tuesday and reported no discomfort.
He will undergo an ultrasound on Wednesday to confirm the injury has fully healed. The expectation is the scan will not show problems and he would then be cleared to work on the pitch with Fernando Diniz.
The club are working to have him available for the derby at Neo Química Arena on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time, in the 25th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Alberto sustained a muscle injury in the back of his right thigh against Athletico on the 30th, feeling it during a sprint. He left the field on a stretcher and in tears.
He is Corinthians’ top scorer this season with eight goals in 33 appearances.
