Yuri Alberto haunts Santos again, his favourite victims for Corinthians

On the night of this Thursday (22), Corinthians ended up with just a 1-1 draw against Santos at Vila Belmiro, in the fourth round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista Championship. The result left the Alvinegro in seventh place on the overall state table with five points (one win, one draw, and one loss – five goals scored and five conceded). The Corinthians goal was scored by forward Yuri Alberto, 16 minutes into the first half.

With the goal scored, the striker reached seven goals in 10 games against Santos wearing the Corinthians jersey (0.7 goals per game). As a result, the team from Baixada Santista became the biggest victim of the number 9 since he started playing for the club from Parque São Jorge. Right behind are Internacional and Atlético-GO, teams against which Yuri Alberto scored six goals in five games each.

Most of Yuri Alberto's goals for Corinthians in games against Santos happened in 2025. In the last edition of the Paulistão, he scored twice in the 2-1 victory, still in the group stage, and later found the net against the Baixada team in the 2-1 win at Neo Química Arena, in the state semifinal. In the Brazilian Championship, he scored the goal that gave Timão the victory in Itaquera by the minimum score. All three games were at the Corinthians home.

According to Sofascore, a sports statistics app, in 85 minutes on the field – when he was substituted by Vitinho – the number 9 accumulated: four shots (two on target), 11/13 accurate passes (85%), 28 actions with the ball, three fouls suffered, one penalty suffered, 2/2 successful dribbles (100%), two ball recoveries, 5/5 ground duels won (100%) and 1/3 aerial duels won. His rating on the app was 7.7.

Completing the top-3 teams against which Yuri Alberto has scored the most goals while playing for Corinthians are Palmeiras and São Paulo, with four goals conceded each in 13 and 11 games, respectively. Since July 2022 at Parque São Jorge, the number 9 has scored 77 goals and provided 22 assists in 210 games (180 as a starter), with 92 wins, 55 draws, and 63 losses – a 52.5% success rate.

In the last season, he was the top scorer for Alvinegro with 19 goals in 58 games and was crucial in winning the Paulista Championship and the Copa do Brasil, against Palmeiras and Vasco da Gama, respectively, scoring goals in both finals. In 2024, he played a decisive role in the team's surge in the Brasileirão (from the relegation zone to the Pré-Libertadores), scoring 15 goals and being the tournament's top scorer. In total, he scored 31 goals that year, becoming Brazil's top scorer and making it to the national competition's best selection.

Yuri Alberto is also the top scorer in the history of Neo Química Arena – inaugurated in 2014 – with 45 goals and the team's top scorer in the 21st century. Now, after drawing with Santos away from home, Corinthians remains focused on the Paulista Championship. Next Sunday (25), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), Alvinegro will visit Velo Clube in Rio Claro, for the fifth round of the first phase of the Paulistão.
