Yuri Alberto experienced both ends of the spectrum in the clássico with Santos, missing a penalty he won before quickly scoring for Corinthians.
According to Meu Timao, he said setbacks are part of the game and the priority is to keep going for the team. He added that he feels good and more confident at the start of the season.
At 14 minutes of the first half, he collected deep in the Corinthians half, burst past three defenders and was brought down by Zé Ivaldo in the box. Taking the spot-kick, he sent it wide as Gabriel Brazão had already dived the other way.
Less than two minutes later, after a flurry of three efforts, he took charge in the area and drilled a low finish beyond Brazão. It was his first goal of the campaign.
That strike also made Santos his favourite opponents in a Corinthians shirt, seven goals, one more than against Internacional and Atlético-GO. Top scorer for Corinthians in 2024 and 2025, he hopes to stay the club’s leading marksman in 2026, with Velo Clube next in Rio Claro, São Paulo state, on Sunday at 20:30.
