FC Bayern’s plans for the future are in full swing – and after the recent contract extensions with Serge Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano, the next important building block is apparently in the pipeline. In focus: top talent Lennart Karl

The attacking player celebrated his 18th birthday last Sunday – and when he came of age, his contract with the record champions was automatically extended until 2029. According to consistent media reports, Karl was given a full professional contract including a salary adjustment. In future, he will earn up to two million euros per year, plus performance-related bonuses

But that’s not all: according to several sources, Bayern bosses led by sporting director Max Eberl want to adjust the contract again – with the aim of tying Karl to the club in the long term until 2031. The background to this is the growing interest from top international clubs, who are keeping a close eye on the youngster and are said to have already registered their interest with the player’s agent

Talks with Ballack ongoing

As transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports, the club and player are already in concrete negotiations, with talks with Karl’s advisor Michael Ballack in full swing – and the Munich side is said to be making good progress

The message is clear: FC Bayern wants planning security. Karl is seen internally as the face of the future, both in sporting and marketing terms. A long-term extension would send a clear signal to the competition

In this context, another detail from Romano’s report is interesting: Karl’s dream of playing for Real Madrid one day still exists. However, the talent is not actively pursuing this plan at the moment. Instead, he is „very happy“ in Munich, is fully focused on FC Bayern and is ready to sign a long-term contract

Salary jump to five million?

According to BILD, another extension could also have a significant financial impact, with an annual salary of up to five million euros being mooted – a huge jump for an 18-year-old, but an expression of the high status Karl now enjoys

FC Bayern are doing everything they can to keep the attacking jewel for the long term. After the automatic extension until 2029, the next step could now follow – a contract until 2031 as a clear commitment from both sides. The future of the record champions should also largely belong to Lennart Karl.
