Isaac Schmidt has left Leeds United for BSC Young Boys on a four-year deal, signing off with an emotional farewell that drew a response from Anton Stach.

His two-year stay ended on Thursday with confirmation of the move. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the fee was undisclosed, but Leeds are understood to have received £2m, enough to avoid a book loss.

Schmidt made 14 appearances during the 2024/25 Championship title-winning season, including two FA Cup starts. All 12 league outings came as a substitute, and last summer he joined Werder Bremen on loan with Premier League minutes unlikely.

He was at Elland Road when automatic promotion was sealed and joined team-mates for the open-top bus parade through the city centre.

In a heartfelt Instagram message, he reflected on the pure emotions, team spirit and unbelievable support, wished the club well and signed off with MOT.

Messages of support followed from former colleagues, with Largie Ramazani and Willy Gnonto among those to reply. Anton Stach, who arrived in summer 2025 and only featured with Schmidt in pre-season, wrote "Good luck Brudi", while Joel Piroe added "Good luck brother".

Illan Meslier and Mateo Joseph also commented, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Harry Gray among those to like the post. Schmidt now links up with Young Boys for pre-season.

He became Leeds’ fourth summer exit, following free agents Karl Darlow and Meslier and Pascal Struijk’s £20m move to Brighton. One signing, Harry Wilson, has been confirmed, with centre-back Tarik Muharemovic expected to follow.
