Brentford ‘agree’ £20m deal for Jaidon Anthony, McCarron ‘to get’ St Johnstone trial | OneFootball

According to Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have agreed a £20m deal in principle to sign Burnley winger Jaidon Anthony, with a five-year contract lined up.

The fee is reported as £17m guaranteed plus £3m in add-ons. Anthony spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Leeds United from Bournemouth, then joined Burnley permanently in May 2025.

Burnley are returning to the Championship after last season’s relegation, though Anthony enjoyed a decent campaign personally.

Elsewhere, former Leeds left back Liam McCarron is set for a trial with a Scottish top-flight club. He joined Leeds from Carlisle United in July 2019 as an 18-year-old and made his first-team debut under Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League defeat to Arsenal at Elland Road in December 2019.

McCarron left for Stoke City in June 2022, had a loan at Port Vale, then moved to Northampton Town and later Boston United in February this year. Released by Boston this summer at the end of his contract, Dundee Courier reports that newly-promoted SPL side St Johnstone are set to take the 25-year-old on trial.
