CD Castellón’s colours were on show in Madrid as two ‘orellut’ supporters joined Spain’s World Cup celebrations at Plaza de Cibeles.
Mario Barberá and Iván González travelled to the capital with a Castellón flag for Monday’s festivities, according to El Periódico Mediterráneo. They displayed it in the heart of the crowd to underline the club’s presence.
The plan was hatched at full-time, and they travelled specifically for the event. Mario said he went with Iván, his former coach and a figure closely linked to Castellón’s football scene. They were the only members of their small expedition.
Mario, 14, plays in the cadete A at Sporting de Castellón. Iván, 44, is a friend of Mario’s parents, coaches Odisea and volunteers regularly at CD Castellón, helping on matchdays at Castalia.
Scarves on, the pair waited for Spain’s players to arrive and recorded the occasion with photos and videos. In every image they hold the Castellón flag amid the capital’s crowd on a day Spanish football will long remember.
