Danny Rohl ’embarrassed’ by Rangers reaction to talks

Danny Rohl became the latest manager to pull out of the Rangers job as the club’s search drags on. The Rangers managerial search has now turned into a circus, with candidate after candidate saying no. From Sean Dyche to Steven Gerrard and now Rohl, it has become a familiar and embarrassing pattern for a club that once attracted giants.

The growing list of rejections

Every time Rangers make contact with a potential manager, it seems to end the same way. Reports claim Dyche didn’t even want to be considered. Gerrard said no after talks. And now Rohl joins them, becoming another name on a growing list of rejections.

Online backlash and hesitation

Rohl’s withdrawal says everything about the atmosphere surrounding this search. He apparently saw the fan backlash online when news broke that he was a leading contender. The negativity shocked and embarrassed him. Many supporters questioned his experience and doubted his ability to handle the pressure at Ibrox. For a man with a strong reputation as a modern coach, it was a rude awakening to the weight of the Rangers job.

It is believed that the scale of that reaction played a key role in his decision to withdraw. Even for someone who handled big clubs in Germany, the sheer passion and criticism from the Rangers support was overwhelming. ESPN reports that Rohl was unsettled by the hostility and reconsidered whether this was the right time for him to take the challenge. He decided quickly that the situation was not right for him.

Not first choice and not convinced

Sky Sports confirmed another reason Rohl turned down the role. He realised he was never first choice. The Rangers managerial search has been a carousel of names, leaks, and rejections. Kevin Muscat has been the main target lately, and everyone else has known it. When Rohl realised he was second or third in line, his interest vanished.

That is the danger when a club appears indecisive. The Guardian highlighted how every passing day of this process damages Rangers’ credibility. Managers see the chaos, the indecision, and the backlash.

The result was a club struggling to find the right man although Muscat may be an exception. Rohl’s withdrawal is just the latest sign that not everyone is right for Rangers and we have to hope the Muscat angle works out.
