Filip Ugrinic has suffered renewed pain in his patellar tendon, so he will miss Switzerland’s games against Germany and Norway and remain in Valencia to recover. According to AS, the midfielder also stayed behind when Valencia travelled to Seville last Saturday.

There is no return date, with the situation dependent on the tendon’s inflammation. He played only 89 minutes from the start of LaLiga until one December due to the same issue, then won Carlos Corberán’s trust and became an important presence in midfield.

That upturn earned him a recall from Murat Yakin for Switzerland’s latest squad, the last before next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Valencia, the player and the Swiss football federation agreed he will remain at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna rather than travel home for medical tests.

Ugrinic trained alone at the Ciudad Deportiva this morning despite the squad having a day off.

José Luis Gayà underwent further tests on Monday to assess the two successive blows to the head he suffered against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán. The captain received positive news, with no serious cheekbone injury detected. He will return to training on Tuesday and will be available for the Celta match on four April.
