Reports from Italy pointed to a gap in the price tag. The Serie A outfit aimed for a lower figure between €10m and €12m. Eventually, reports confirmed that both parties struck an accord on Friday. The buyout option dropped considerably to a fee between €6m and €7m.

So, the 29-year-old winger flew to Italy to finalise the formalities. He will reportedly don the number 22 shirt for La Viola. Now, the report provides further financial context. They note that Leeds United will pay part of Harrison’s €3m annual wage. Fiorentina will contribute approximately €1m for the remainder of his spell.

This transfer makes sense for everyone involved, particularly considering Harrison’s minimal impact at Elland Road throughout the current campaign. He accumulated merely 443 minutes across 13 appearances. During that time, he failed to register a single goal or assist.

The winger found himself out of favour under Daniel Farke’s tactical plans. So, letting him go permits the club to redirect financial resources. They no longer have to maintain an expensive asset that contributes little on the pitch.

On top of that, the deal includes a purchase option. While significantly lower than the fee Leeds initially desired, it offers a potential permanent exit route. This could happen if the player rediscovers his form while playing in Tuscany. Fiorentina secure an experienced attacker with relatively low risk.

At the same time, Leeds United effectively clear the necessary deck space. This allows for other potential winter reinforcements or simply helps balance the books. Some supporters might argue that the reduced option fee reflects poor negotiation leverage.
