146 Leeds United supporters from Norway have hired a private plane to reach Saturday’s Wolves clash at Elland Road. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, members of the Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia will make the 480-mile trip from Kristiansand to Leeds Bradford on Friday.
The club will host the group on Friday with a tour of Elland Road, hotel dinner and a reunion at the Scarborough Hotel pub.
The main event follows on Saturday afternoon when Leeds face Wolves, with the chance to go nine points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
Traveller Terje Ulven from Arendal, near Kristiansand, says the area has many Leeds fans. Some in the group are season-ticket holders, others will be visiting for the first time.
Ulven previously joined a similar trip in 2019, witnessing the Aston Villa game when Marcelo Bielsa told his team to allow a goal, which he recalls as crazy.
He attends around 12 matches a season, flying across the North Sea, and is part of a large Norwegian following. As a child in 70s Norway, he chose Leeds after preferring a blue bag to his brother’s red.
He admits it has not been the trophy-laden route, including a spell in the third tier, yet says Leeds people have always been welcoming. He is eager to be back at Elland Road.
