América spring a surprise by deregistering two players

According to Americayya.net, América have deregistered Ícaro da Conceicao and José Zúñiga in a late-window move. The decision follows yesterday's confirmation of the arrivals of Santiago Mingo and Santiago Bueno, both brought in to cover Sebastián Cáceres' departure.

Those two signings effectively filled the foreign quota, so it looked as though the window was shut, unless a late surprise such as Luis Chávez emerged.

The board have dropped their registrations, with Ícaro set to rejoin the under-21s after falling short of expectations, while the injured Zúñiga is one the club will look to move on.

This switch suggests they could seek another foreign recruit, or alternatively register Víctor Dávila, although that seems unlikely as his position is already well covered.

The market closes at 11:59pm on 11 September, so time is against Las Águilas. Any final additions for the Apertura 2026 would need announcing by tomorrow.
