Atlético de Madrid mocked neighbours Real Madrid on X on Tuesday after their rivals announced a bid for Julian Alvarez, then underlined they would not consider any offer for the Argentinian forward.

Real Madrid said in a statement at 19:13 that they had lodged a €150 million offer for the 26-year-old centre-forward, adding that Atlético had thanked them before rejecting it.

Atlético first replied with laughing emojis on X, then issued a firmer message about an hour later.

The follow-up rejected any notion of thanks, warned against confusing courtesy with gratitude, and insisted they would not study offers concerning Julian. It ended with a jibe that Real make them laugh even more than Barça.

With the football world turning towards America two days before the competition starts, the Madrid clubs drew attention with this exchange. Atlético finished fourth in La Liga last season.
