Jon Balda remains at Zaragoza’s Hospital Miguel Servet and is stable as he recovers from abdominal surgery. Real Sociedad said in a medical update that the Sanse left-back will stay admitted until he is discharged.

Balda was injured in Monday’s match at Huesca following a collision, spending several minutes in clear pain on the pitch.

He was replaced by Unax Agote before half-time, then transferred to hospital.

Despite the initial concern, his recovery is progressing well and he is expected to be home soon. However, it appears the 24-year-old will not feature in any of Sanse’s three remaining games this season.

His setback was the only sour note on an otherwise positive night for the reserves, who won 1-2 at Huesca, a result that virtually secures their Segunda status.
