Max Eberl, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, has confirmed negotiations are under way for Palhinha to join Benfica, while saying some details still need to be finalised.

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have reached an understanding with Bayern on a 14 million euros fee, with a further five million in add-ons.

One issue remains before any official announcement, with the Portuguese midfielder needing to settle financial matters with the German club, a process now being handled between the parties.

As a result, a return to the Estádio da Luz appears close, but the deal cannot yet be considered complete.

Benfica are awaiting resolution of the final points before closing the signing of the Portugal international.
