Besiktas have opened talks over Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó, who is also on Benfica’s radar. The 22-year-old Spain international plays as a defensive midfielder and fits the profile valued by the Lisbon club, with room to develop.
Several European clubs are tracking his situation. Sunderland and Nottingham Forest were the first to show interest and, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig have now joined the race and are seeking a way to sign him.
Benfica’s admiration is not new. Casadó was considered as cover for João Palhinha when that move was still being finalised. With Palhinha now at the Luz, the Barcelona player is no longer an immediate priority, though he remains on their list.
Casadó is represented by Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, who is working on a solution for the midfielder to leave the Catalan club.
Besiktas also have a plan B in Richard Ríos of Benfica to bolster midfield. The Colombian, 26, is on the market and a departure from the Luz is possible in this window.
