Brentford and Fenerbahçe expected to bid for Santos defender João Ananias | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Brentford and Fenerbahçe are expected to submit offers to Santos for centre-back João Ananias. Arsenal and other European clubs have recently approached his representatives to understand his situation.

Two months ago Ananias came close to joining Benfica. Santos view a sale as a way to ease financial pressures. The move did not progress as the Portuguese club proposed offsetting a debt from the Rollheiser deal instead of paying a fee.

He made his senior debut this year and has 12 appearances across the Brasileirão, Copa Sudamericana and Copa do Brasil. He also scored in a July friendly against União São João at the Pacaembu.

As well as centre-back he can play left-back. He has been called up by Brazil Under-20 for training periods this year, although early this month Santos kept him with the first-team squad. He won the Paulista Under-20 last year and the Under-17 the year before.

Ananias is under contract until 30 June 2030.
