Broadcaster sets ratings record with Corinthians v Santos derby

Corinthians and Santos faced each other last Thursday (22nd), in the fourth round of the first phase of the Paulistão. The first meeting between the teams this season was broadcast by Record, the only option for free-to-air television. As a result, the network set an audience record in 2026, breaking a mark that hadn't been reached since August of the previous year.

According to a survey by the Timão Números profile, the Alvinegro Classic achieved an average of 13 audience points, making the channel the second most watched, with a peak of 15.3 points. As mentioned, these were Record's best numbers in 2026 with the Paulistão and the highest reach since August 31, 2025.

It is worth mentioning that on August 31, 2025, Corinthians faced Palmeiras in the Brasileirão, reinforcing that the club tends to boost the network's audience. On that occasion, the classic also ended in a 1-1 draw, but took place at the Neo Química Arena.

It was the second time in the 2026 season that the People's Team was broadcast on free-to-air television, and the second classic overall. Record broadcast Palmeiras' victory over Santos in the second round, but it did not yield the same numbers as the match involving Corinthians.

Corinthians' next commitment is this Sunday, against Velo Clube, in the fifth round of the competition. The match will be broadcast on free-to-air television, again on Record, and will take place starting at 8:30 PM (Brasília time).
