FLW's Wolves fan pundit has shared their thoughts on Tolu Arokodare's recent antics in training

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the midst of their pre-season training, and as the Old Gold prepare to challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League, an off-field incident has dominated recent headlines.

Indeed, it's already been a pretty eventful off-season for Wolves following relegation to the Championship.

Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez joined on free transfers to kick things off, as Welsh boss Rob Edwards was dismissed shortly after and replaced by relatively unknown Portuguese head coach Cesar Peixoto.

Since then, Rafiki Said has joined from Standard Liege for around £7.7 million as Peixoto's first addition, as the 46-year-old looks to stamp his authority and prepare his squad for the upcoming campaign.

However, as Wolves get up to speed during their pre-season tour in Portugal, one incident has dominated headlines, which has put a pretty damning look on one player in particular.

Toluwase Arokodare joined Wolves last summer from Belgian side Genk for around £24 million to reinforce the Old Gold's attacking options.

The towering Nigerian striker first moved to Europe with Latvian side Valmiera, and has since had spells with FC Köln in Germany, Amiens in France, Genk in Belgium, and most recently Wolves.

The 25-year-old scored just three goals and grabbed one assist in 33 Premier League games last season as Wolves were relegated with a whimper, and heading into the summer, has been angling for a move, with both Trabzonspor and Fiorentina interested.

Wolves have rejected offers from both clubs, and with Arokodare looking for a move, the Old Gold's training was forced to be stopped recently after the Nigerian refused to leave the pitch, giving Peixoto his first big test as the club's head coach.

The Nigerian has since responded to media reports, claiming them to be 'inaccurate', as his future with the club looks be in serious doubt.

Football League World's Wolves fan pundit, Thomas Woodhall, has shared their thoughts regarding Arokodare's recent conduct, and how they see this saga playing out.

Thomas told FLW: "Useless. I don't want him in the club. I think we've got every right to hold on to him for the right price.

"You know, he kicked off about not moving to Turkey because he wants Fiorentina. Well, if Fiorentina aren't willing to offer the money, then tough. He'll go wherever everyone can be in agreement on. That doesn't necessarily mean he's going to get it.

"If he wants Fiorentina so badly and Fiorentina wants him so badly, they'll stump up the cash that Wolves are asking for. He's a baby, and his attitude does not correlate with his ability. I think he's average at best. And when I say average, I mean average for the Championship, not the Premier League.

"[It's] not good enough to have this kind of stinking attitude, to be honest. Get rid as soon as a reasonable offer comes through. If he doesn't want that offer, then he can stick around and rot on the bench. Absolutely useless."

With Arokodare's recent incident plaguing Wolves' pre-season plans, head coach Peixoto must find a resolution to this situation sooner rather than later.

Whilst Wolves are well within their rights to command whatever fee they want for the striker, given he is under contract until at least the summer of 2029, keeping him around may do more damage than what he is worth.
