Corinthians have secured extra time to settle what is owed to Talleres for Rodrigo Garro, with a new deadline agreed to avoid taking the dispute to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"We accepted one final extension to show our full willingness to reach an agreement. Talleres have been excellent over the last three months, and we can see Corinthians want to collaborate," said club president Andrés Fassi, speaking to ESPN.

The clubs signed a commitment on Thursday to clear US$ 7 million net, about R$ 35.7 million at current rates, with payment due by Tuesday 16 June.

Earlier this month, Fassi had set Friday 12 June as a final deadline and indicated he would turn to CAS if the money did not arrive.

Corinthians have faced difficulties raising funds amid recent off-field turbulence, and progress on a loan from Outfield had stalled before advancing on Thursday.

Central do Timão reports that the club reached an agreement with an investment firm to provide funds for an upfront US$ 8.5 million payment, around R$ 44 million, including interest and charges.

The debt stems from a FIFA ruling in February 2025 for US$ 3.6 million, after which Corinthians appealed to CAS to avoid a fresh transfer ban. Talks had been strained under former president Augusto Melo, but improved under Osmar Stabile, who met Fassi in Córdoba and revived negotiations.

On the pitch, Garro has played 33 times in 2026, scoring two goals and supplying 11 assists, leading the team for assists this season.
