Corinthians race to pay Talleres fee for Rodrigo Garro before 12 June deadline | OneFootball

Corinthians have reached the final day of the Talleres deadline over the Rodrigo Garro transfer, with the Parque São Jorge club still seeking funds to settle the debt and avoid another case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS.

"We are waiting for them to pay by 12 June. That is the deadline for receiving the money. If they do not pay, Talleres will go to CAS to have the punishment enforced. They are convinced they will pay us before. We will wait until that day," said president Andrés Fassi in an interview with ESPN.

The board has struggled to raise the required sums amid recent off-field turbulence, and a loan arranged with Outfield hit a snag, though talks moved forward on Thursday.

An agreement with an investment company would enable an upfront payment of US$ 8.5 million, about R$ 44 million at the current rate, covering interest and fees. Talleres initially set the end of May as the deadline, then extended it due to delays exchanging and validating draft contracts since April.

The liability stems from a FIFA ruling in February 2025 for US$ 3.6 million, about R$ 18.7 million at the time. Corinthians appealed to CAS to avert a new transfer ban, and negotiations later stalled amid a strained relationship with Augusto Melo.

Under president Osmar Stabile, dialogue reopened, including a personal meeting in Córdoba and April approval from the club’s Cori for a repayment plan. An internal finance group he created, later dissolved in early May, helped resolve the Santos Laguna case over Félix Torres and worked on talks involving Matías Rojas and Talleres. On the pitch, Garro has played 33 times in 2026 with two goals and 11 assists, leading the team for assists this season.
