Vasco's late-window recruitment has been curtailed by court orders capping new transactions at 5.9 million reais and freezing a 150 million reais loan, according to Globo.com.
The restriction was upheld on Friday by judge Simone Gastesi Chevrand of Rio de Janeiro's fourth Business Court. She said a summary audit remains necessary before any borrowing above the cap, and asked the judicial administration, watchdog and gatekeeper to clarify points in the case.
Any outlay above 5.9 million reais is treated as new debt and needs court approval. With the loan on ice, the club cannot take on fresh liabilities until a new audit, expected within 15 days.
In market terms, the board cannot commit to bids above US$ 1.137 million or €974,000 at Thursday 20 August rates. Talks for Estrela Vermelha striker Bruno Duarte show this. A €1.5 million offer met no resistance from the Serbian club and the player agreed, but it exceeds the cap so negotiations are on hold.
Chief executive Fred Luz said projections show that from Thursday 20, without these funds, cash flow could become extremely delicate, risking missed payments to players, agents, clubs, taxes and debts under judicial recovery. He warned this could lead to fines, CBF sustainability breaches, failure to consolidate a new tax settlement and a transfer ban.
A midfield deal is advanced, but it can only move to final steps once spending beyond 5.9 million reais is cleared.
