Real Sociedad head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has addressed Take Kubo’s absence for Sunday’s Celta de Vigo visit to Anoeta at 18:30, with Dani Díaz emerging as a natural option on the right. According to AS, the academy winger has come into contention.

Matarazzo said Kubo is in Japan with his family and under the supervision of his trusted doctors, seeking emotional and physical respite. He added the hamstring problem will keep the forward out for longer than first anticipated.

The coach is pleased with what he has seen from Díaz at Zubieta, describing him as technical, quick and dynamic with a low centre of gravity and notable individual quality. He stressed the team’s collective improvement remains the priority, yet sees Díaz as a strong fit for the role.

Aged 19, Dani Díaz from Torrelavega, born 2006, is already a firm Zubieta prospect and a European under-19 champion with Spain. He mirrors Kubo in profile, a right winger who is especially adept on his left foot, standing 1.67 m and driving inside.

This season he has played 17 matches, with six starts and 542 minutes. He has scored two goals, one a penalty, completed 15 dribbles at close to 50 per cent and created 12 chances, while signing a new deal until 2029 in November. He made his Primera debut on 29 March last season against Valladolid, replacing Take.
