According to Globo.com, Flamengo have only one week to register new signings for the Libertadores quarter-finals, with Conmebol’s deadline next Friday. The looming €10m sale of Plata to Dynamo Moscow is pressuring the club to find swift cover.

They face Independiente del Valle over two legs, the champions of Ecuador on a 16-match winning run. Brazil’s transfer window stays open until 11 September, although Conmebol’s cut-off applies for this stage.

Early in the window Flamengo pursued Almada, who chose River Plate, and Luiz Henrique, who remains at Zenit. The club then stepped back and trusted the squad that knocked out Cruzeiro 3-2 on aggregate in the last 16.

Flamengo stayed quiet while monitoring the market, but Plata’s exit now appears close. A regular under Leonardo Jardim, the Ecuador forward impressed before the World Cup, then shone for his country, after which his camp pushed for a pay rise or a sale with higher wages.

The deal, understood to be around €10m paid upfront, would bolster Flamengo’s spending power. Added to roughly €25m already budgeted, it matches the fee Zenit have asked for Luiz Henrique, who remains a target amid competition that includes Botafogo.

Further departures are possible. Everton Cebolinha, out of contract in December, can already sign a pre-contract and an early release is under discussion, while Wallace Yan has reopened talks with Bragantino.

Any arrivals after the initial cut-off would be eligible only for a potential semi-final, with squad changes allowed until 9 October.
