Watford said in a statement on Thursday that Krépin Diatta has joined on a one-year deal, with an option for a further season, after leaving Monaco as a free agent this summer.
The 27-year-old moved from Club Brugge to Monaco in 2021 and recorded eight goals and nine assists in 143 games across all competitions. Initially a winger, he was increasingly used at right-back and wing-back.
Capped 65 times by Les Lions de la Teranga, he started each of the four matches contested by the most recent Africa Cup of Nations finalists at the 2026 World Cup.
Born in Dakar, Diatta now begins his first spell in England and the Championship.
Watford hope to draw on his versatility to climb the table, with Alessio Dionisi’s side currently 20th of 24 in the league.
