Gaviões da Fiel urge fans to march to Vila Belmiro for opener

Corinthians begins its journey in the Brazilian Championship this Wednesday, January 28, when it faces Bahia at Vila Belmiro, in Baixada Santista. For the match, Gaviões da Fiel has called on the black-and-white fans for a walk to the stadium, aiming to support the team in the competition's debut.

The organized group set the meeting point at the Santos branch, located at Rua Marechal Pego Júnior, nº 61, at 3 PM. From this location, the fans will proceed together towards Vila Belmiro to watch the match.

Corinthians' home field will be at Vila Belmiro due to an agreement involving the club, Santos, and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The change was made so that Timão would have the same rest period as Flamengo before the Brazilian Super Cup match.

The national decision is scheduled for next Sunday, February 1, at Mané Garrincha Stadium, in Brasília. Initially, Corinthians was to debut in the Brasileirão on January 29, while Flamengo would play on the 28th, giving the Rio team an extra day of rest. To avoid this disadvantage, the black-and-white club arranged to bring forward its debut in the tournament.

Additionally, Corinthians could not play in the São Paulo capital on the 28th, as São Paulo and Flamengo face each other on the same date at Morumbi. For security reasons, the Military Police usually do not allow two major state clubs to play in the city on the same day, making Vila Belmiro a viable alternative to solve the logistical issue.

Meanwhile, Santos played as the host at Neo Química Arena in a draw against Red Bull Bragantino this Sunday, for the Paulista Championship. The use of the Corinthians stadium was possible because the date was free, as Corinthians had faced Velo Clube in Rio Claro, also for the State Championship.
