Gonçalo Guedes returned to training on Saturday after missing the Getafe and Rayo games. Barring a setback in the final session, he will be at the Sánchez Pizjuán on Monday to face Sevilla. According to Diario Vasco, the winger is back in the squad picture.
He has shaken off an ankle twist and trained normally under Matarazzo, ready for the run-in. The coach speaks to the media on Sunday at 14.00, when he will name his squad for opponents battling the drop.
His absence stemmed from a collision with Musso in the Copa del Rey final against Atlético. The keeper punched him in the head and also caught his leg in the air, a clear penalty despite ongoing debate. Off balance as he landed, he twisted his ankle and went off.
It was not his only issue. He has played with a broken fourth toe and at times under injection, but the ankle problem forced him out of the past two league games. After two sessions with the group, Matarazzo could use him, though a start may be premature given Barrenetxea’s form and Kubo’s availability.
Zubeldia and Karrikaburu are out as they recover. Zubeldia was injured in Villarreal, while Karrikaburu was stamped on from behind against Getafe at Anoeta, tried to continue but limped, and could not help force an equaliser.
Matarazzo has released the youngsters for Sunday’s Burgos match at Anoeta. Beitia will feature for the B team this weekend.
