Leeds United ended pre-season with a convincing 4-0 win over Augsburg at Elland Road. Anton Stach, Tarik Muharemovic, James Justin and Lukas Nmecha scored.

Leeds struck after 50 seconds via Stach’s deflected finish, before Muharemovic’s bicycle kick and a slick move finished by Justin made it three by half-time. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke named close to his strongest side, with James Trafford, a Rodon-Bijol-Muharemovic back three, Ampadu with Stach, and Wilson, Calvert-Lewin and Aaronson up front.

The second half was quieter, yet Nmecha added a fourth by dinking Ao Tanaka’s precise pass over goalkeeper Finn Dahmen.

With Stach and Wilson on duty, Leeds had two set-piece takers of opposite feet, producing a stream of inswinging corners and a handful of chances.

Protecting a three-goal lead, Farke reshaped after multiple changes, removing Bijol and switching to a back four. Aaronson moved to No 10 with Daniel James and Noah Okafor either side of Nmecha, then Joel Piroe came on as Leeds finished in a 4-2-3-1 for the final 22 minutes.

Farke looks set to stick with 3-4-2-1, but his willingness to flip shapes mid-game helped snare comeback points last season and remains valuable. Okafor is only a week into pre-season and Farke has said it is unlikely he will be fit to start at Nottingham Forest next weekend, while Aaronson has enjoyed the most impressive pre-season among the alternatives.
